Jennifer Wright

Jennifer is an artist-researcher investigating the relation of electronic image-making and communication media to domestic space (its history and development in Europe) and contemporary art, specifically painting and media installation.

Specifically, her research examines the following:

Domestic spaces and the way they are populated with media and installations that can be said to be portals or windows onto exterior worlds. This is approached as a historical investigation as well as an aesthetic, social and political investigation, drawing on methodologies developed by media archeology and feminist art practices.

The development of images in European domestic and architectural spaces, from the wall paintings of Herculaneum to Apple TV.

The relation of Roman and Pompeian wall painting and murals to contemporary painting and installation and media art (via 18th Century Palladian villas decorated by Robert Adams)
